COVID-19 UPDATE
New Lockdown declared in France as of Friday 30th October

We are now in a new lockdown period in France.

If this means you can no longer come and visit properties with us in person, you can rest assured that we are continuing to work for you. We are doing the following:

  • Updating and adding new properties on our website
  • Exchanging emails and calls with buyers and vendors
  • Putting together property lists, sending you available information and material on your preferred properties
  • Accompanying you on live virtual tours
  • Taking on new sales mandates
  • Carrying out virtual signing using an e-signing facility for all legal documents.

The buying process will continue for all the ongoing sales as notaires, banks, administrations and France Property Angels continue to work.

With our best wishes to all our clients from the France Property Angels Team

10 Questions With An Angel

This is the first in a series of Q&A with the team at France Property Angels, where you can get to know each of them a little better. France Property Angles provide a free and professional service helping you buy property in the French Alps and South of France.

We start with Tim Smith, France Property Angels representative in the ski resort of Châtel and also covering the mountain villages of Abondance and Chapelle d'Abondance, in the Portes du Soleil ski area.

Q. What is the best thing about living in the French Alps?
A. There is no other lifestyle like it: relaxed but energizing.

Q. What do you do in your free time, in the: i) winter; and ii) summer?
A. In the winter month there isn’t any free time! In the summer I enjoy visiting other nearby places.

Q. What is your favourite time of year/season?Tim Smith, France Property Angels Representative in the Chatel and Abondance Valleys
A. Every season has many great aspects. In the winter, it’s all about sports, the mountains are busy and there is lots of buzz in the valley.

Spring is about the transition from white to green and a small window to relax in between the peak seasons of winter and summer.

With the Summer, comes hot days with amazing thunder and lightning storms, lake swimming and BBQs with friends.

The Autumn months are still warm and sunny but there is the excitement and anticipation of the forthcoming Winter. There are beautiful colours on the trees - the best time to catch it at its best is usually the second or third week of October. It’s also the season for the delicious chasse menu in the local restaurants.

Q. What brought you to the French Alps – and why the ski resort you live in?
A.
My cousin got married in Châtel so I made a trip for the wedding. At the reception I then persuaded a catered chalet operator to let me be their chalet boy. The rest, as they say, is history!

Q. Top tip when buying a property in the French Alps?
A.
Come and see me! It’s all about getting to know the market by seeing lots of properties as the variables are vast.

Q. Care to share your favourite restaurant, bar, shop, other “black book” address?
A. Alpage du Mouet, a mountain refuge and working dairy farm in the Chapelle d'Abondance valley. It has amazing views, simple food and it is always a party. It’s well worth the long walk up.
